Toshiba Dynabook UX 10.1-inch Netbook Officially Announced

Toshiba officially announced their latest netbook today dubbed the Dynabook UX. This 10.1-inch netbook model features a LED-backlit display with 1,024 x 600 resolution, which is the same resolution of its 8.9-inch predecessor.




The keyboard features chicklet like keys generously spaced, making typing more comfortable. The usual specs included are 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. Additional features include three USB ports, MMC and SDHC card slots, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a 3-megapixel webcam.

The Dynabook UX also comes preloaded with Windows XP Home Edition. One cool feature this netbook has is that you can charge USB-powered devices even when the netbook is turned off. Ten variety of options will be available for this netbook including numerous battery options. The Dynabook UX will pre-sell in Japan starting on April 24th in either brown satin or snow white for about $607.

MSI U120H Netbook: 3.5G HSDPA Broadband Convenience

Netbooks were all dseigned with connectivity in mind. From the cheapest OLPC to the most expensive high-end laptop, they all have Wi-Fi. But what if you're stuck in a place where there's no cafe to mooch off? The MSI U120H is one of the first locally available netbooks to have a built-in 3G sim slot. It's really a brilliant idea that all portable computers should have. Sure those wireless broadband sticks are handy, but they still eat up a USB slot. When a typical netbook only has two, you'll start to appreciate the sim slot.

The U120 has the typical netbook specs, and in fact the hardware is very similar to the popular U100 models. The exterior has undergopne a few changes and moves away from the U100's toy-like appearance. Although we're not sure about the two-tone color scheme, the hardware seems built to last. The standard extended battery is a godsend too.

Latest ASUS Eee PC E1004DN with DVD Due Next Month

Latest rumor from Digitimes revealed that the latest ASUS Eee PC E1004DN DVD-equipped netbook will be available mid-April this year with a tag price of NT$18,000 to 20,000 ($531 to 590). The Eee PC E1004DN which was first spotted at CES earlier this year, will have an Intel Atom N280 processor, the HD-capable GN40 graphics chipset and a 120GB hard-drive. Those same sources have also tipped the launch of the ASUS Eee PC 1008HA.



This amazing netbook, being just 10.2-inch, still finds space for a DVD burner, ExpressCard slot and three USB 2.0 ports, together with WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth and an 8-in-1 multiformat card reader. The E1004DN was originally slated to remain in Europe and China only, but was spotted clearing the FCC at the beginning of March.

As for the Eee PC 1008HA, that’s predicted to arrive in May. No pricing detail has been given, but earlier rumors suggested that the “Shell” netbook would hit the UK in April priced at £359 ($517).

Lenovo Pocket Yoga Photos Revealed

Following the previous blurry spy photos from Lenovo HQ are these impressive Vaio P Netbook like shots, the New Lenovo Pocket Yoga. And if the following photos are official, it's name is not an exaggeration. It really looks like it will actually fit your pocket.

It still looks like it's filling that zone halfway between concept and actual product (as the actual concept sketches that accompany the shots on Lenovo's Flickr stream would seem to indicate) but it does look cool, with a ultra widescreen, apparently touch-sensitive display that may be able to flip around into tablet mode.

That weird looking black belt clasp system above, according to one of the Flickr captions, also turns into a mouse. Way too cool.

The New Apple Mac Netbook?

Hold your horses Apple fanatics! I'm just here to echo another mac rumor from Digitimes. Digitimes posted a Commercial Times report that Taiwan-based Wintek will supply touch panels for "Apple's new netbook" due in the 3rd quarter of 2009.

Wintek revealed that it is currently working with Apple to develop some new products, but it said it does not know what applications the new products are for. Wintek added that no shipment schedule has been worked out yet, but shipments are likely to begin in the second half of the year.

While Winktek was unable to confirm the exact products, the Chinese-language newspaper claims that Apple will be releasing a new "netbook" for later this year.

The "netbook" term is one that has been traditionally applied to low-cost miniaturized notebooks. It's a market that Apple has officially denied interest in.

Still, there have been long-running whispers that Apple has been working on a true "sub" notebook which may correspond to these rumors. Commercial Times has had a mixed record in predicting Apple's products based on supply chain reports, but has had some seemingly accurate data in the past.

Windows Vista is still the order of the day for LG, like it or not. The EEE PC meanwhile, can run either Windows or Linux. (0 LG : 1 EEE)

The LG is lighter than the EEE PC 1000, which is impressive considering its size and chunky hard drive. (1 LG : 1 EEE)

It's ten-inch screen is the same size and resolution as that of the EEE PC 1000. That makes it small enough to fit in your bag, yet not so titchy that you'll need a prescription to read text on it. (DRAW)

You can cram 20,000 MP3s or more Word documents than you'll ever want on the 80GB drive. Same as that on the EEE PC 1000. (DRAW)

Wirelessly this is a dead heat with the EEE PC 1000 and the LG both having the fastest N standard Wi-Fi. The EEEs have three USB ports, however, whereas the LG only has two. (DRAW)

The Verdict

Both tied in points. But the LG is extremely light with a gigantic hard-drive, and if you can cope without Linux, this could be a genuine contender to the EEE PC 1000.

Touch Book Tablet Netbook Launched at DEMO 09

Always Innovating unveiled the Touch Book today during the DEMO 09 conference, a new device that works as both a netbook and a tablet thanks to a detachable keyboard and a 3D touchscreen user interface.
