Cherry Mobile Pulse Review: Most Affordable Octa-core Android Phone

Cherry Mobile introduced again another potential game changer in the local smart phone scene by bringing their latest budget phone and cheapest so far octa-core mobile device, the Cherry Mobile Pulse. Priced at only P6,495, lots of people are wondering how could something with those specs be that cheap. Are we simply going to get what we paid for? or is this the real deal, value for money smartphone? Let's take a look after the break.

Samsung DualView TL225 Camera gets Reviewed

The Samsung's DualView TL225 digital camera's second front-mounted display seemed like a good and innovative idea. But is it really good or disappointing? Wired reviewed the camera today and they rated this one a disenchanted score of 4/10.

Wired have been putting the TL225 through its paces, and they’ve concluded that not only does the second screen cause its own share of problems rather than solve them, the underlying camera itself is a let-down.



Wired also found that the front display does make lining up shots straightforward, but unfortunately it then encourages those in the picture to look to the side of the lens. The end result is a well-framed photo with nobody looking at the camera.

In addition to the laundry list of problems listed above, the image quality is also poor in anything other than bright light with plenty of shutter lag, much less then you would expect from a 12.2 megapixel camera. For $300 it seems like a gimmick that’s gone wrong.

T-Mobile Dash 3G by HTC Unboxed Plus First Impression Video

T-Mobile’s latest Windows Mobile smartphone, the Dash 3G by HTC, is all set to hit the market this week, but the guys at PhoneMag have already been playing with the QWERTY candybar. Vincent has suffered a bout of nostalgia with the new handset, comparing it to the original Dash, but the new Dash 3G keyboard racks up the kudos as “one of the best if not the best” he’s used.



There’s also compliments for the dualband UMTS/HSPA, though the absence of a flash for the 2-megapixel camera is noted. Still, that’s not enough to counter Vincent’s favorable first-impressions, aided no doubt by Windows Mobile 6.1 running fast on the smartphone.

Nokia N97 Review

While trying to get my hands on a Nokia N97 and write my own review, our friends at PhoneMag posted a full review of the Nokia N97 inclusive of an unboxing video and some great photos. If you are one of those eagerly anticipating to own one, then this review is worth reading.



The Nokia N97 is a S60 5th Edition mobile computer with a large 3,5“, bright nHD (640 x 360 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio) TFT color display with resistive touch screen and tactile feedback. The device provides excellent user experience for internet and entertainment by combining qwerty keyboard with touch UI and Home screen functionality. Use the N97 to connect to mobile broadband using WLAN or HSDPA (3.5G). Find directions and locations with the integrated A-GPS and included maps. Additional features include game titles with N-Gage, a 5 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash and automatic geotagging of images and videos.

Nokia has announced that the N97 touchscreen smartphone is available to U.S. customers in Nokia flagship stores in New York and Chicago and several online retailers. Nokia is offering the N97 for a commitment-free price of $699. In addition to the flagship stores, the N97 is available at nokiausa.com and through independent retailers.
