Sony Ericsson Aino with Sony Remote Play and 8.1MP camera

Sony Ericsson announced earlier three new phones – Yari, Satio and Aino – that are gorgeous and easy on the eye and boast some powerful multimedia features. The SE Aino is basically a slender phone with a slider keypad and a 3-inch touchscreen display and interface. Aino will have a whopping 8.1 megapixel camera and will offer a snap-on speaker stand for audio aficionados.



A new amazing feature from Aino is the Sony Remote Play. Aino owners will be able to control their PlayStation 3 remotely from anywhere in the world they have a network connection. With a PlayTV tuner, they’ll also be able to watch, pause and record live TV from free-to-air digital TV channels.

Those without a PS3 aren’t left behind; Sony Ericsson have also announced Media Home, a sync app which pulls media data from a PC to the Aino via WiFi or when docked in the included recharging cradle. As for the wireless remote, that has sound-sensitive LEDs. The Sony Ericsson Aino will hit the market in Q4, price to be announced.

New Sony PS3 Slim Photos Leaked?

With the Sony PS3 price cut looming around, these rumored photo leaks of the new PS3 slim could make sense. Although the company still denies the Slim’s existence, but it looks like an assembly worker may have risked life and limb to put the truth in the hands of the people. And while these photos are certainly hard to authenticate, it's still hard to ignore that we may be looking at the first images of Sony’s upcoming PS3 Slim. The PS3 logo looks new and beside that, it oddly looks cheap. That leads us connect Sony's desire to cut the PS3's price and be able to compete head-on with cheaper Wii and Xbox 360. Barely no valuable information is available at this point, so we're not expecting any sort of confirmation from Sony and will get by with these photos until any official release is made.

PSP Go! The New UMD less PSP Coming This June

Rumours about the upcoming PSP may have come out earlier than Sony expected. According to 1UP, Sony will announce the new PSP called the PSP Go! (not PSP2 or PSP4000 as previously rumored) and will do away with UMD system. In place of UMDs, the PSP Go! will come in 8GB and 16GB models meaning downloadable games galore for everyone. The hardware redesign will include a d-pad, analog nub, and face buttons as part of a sliding unit sticking out below the screen (as seen in the mockup below). As for games, Sony is reportedly planning to have around 100 old and new games ready for launch time. Sadly those of you who were looking for a bit of dual-joystick action will be disappointed to note that no second analog stick will be added to the right-hand side. And no mention of touchscreen DSi like display either (I'm still hoping though, who knows). Word is Sony will make the PSP Go! official at E3 next month and will hit the Japanese market in September with a US launch in either late October or early November in time for a merry PSP Go! holiday.

NVIDIA and Sony to Bring PhysX to PS3

NVIDIA announced recently that it will provide the binary version of the PhysX software development kit (SDK) to all registered PS3 developers. The software package, which contains an API, a "robust" physics engine, and associated tools, can be downloaded from the SCEI Developer Network. Developers who choose to leverage the kit, according to NVIDIA, are able to "author and preview physics effects in real time." The GPU maker also boasts that "the continued adoption of NVIDIA PhysX technology by the world’s leading content developers is resulting in games that not only look as realistic as possible, but also provides gaming experiences where the world’s literally come to life."

PhysX technology is already supported in over 150 games and is supported on PCs, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. Nvidia did not release any terms of the deal with Sony.

It looks like Sony has a change of heart and tries to make the PS3 easier to develop to appease some recent critical comments.

Sony DSC-G3 Internet-ready Cyber-shot Cam

The Sony Cyber-shot finally living up to its name with the new DSC-G3 Internet-ready Wi-Fi enabled digicam. It’s ready to conquer the cyberspace with its ability to take great 10.1 megapixel shots and Easy Upload Home Page integrated browser that enables PC-less uploading of pics onto sharing sites. Unlike competitor products from Nikon or Kodak that have their own Wi-Fi functions, the Sony camera works with AT&T hotspots so that external access point software isn't necessary. This ultra-slim stunner has 4GB internal memory and a 921-kilopixel LCD display allows for better post-shooting views. It also boasts SteadyShot image stabilization, face detection, Smile Shutter technology, and a number of usual Cyber-shot features.



Most interesting is the included camera software, based on Busybox and Kernel 2.6.11 for the Access Linux Platform (ALP). The kernel code makefile reveals further:
