As anticipation builds enormously til 10AM California time today, this is the ultimate argument everyone wants to answer. Will iPhone really match Palm Pre's features or at least give Palm Pre a tough match with their latest OS 3.0? Or are they just hyping it up.
Rose says that iPhone 3.0 will "match the Palm Pre." He did not expound on that point, and it is pretty unclear. It really could mean anything. What I am hoping it means is that iPhone OS 3.0 will offer the same level of cross-platform integration and seamless contact management that the Pre does with its Synergy platform. In other words, Facebook contacts, Gmail contacts, Exchange contacts will all be merged into one master contact, but still searchable from those different databases. But, who knows what Rose really meant. My only thought is, if Apple can update the iPhone to match some of the Pre's iPhone-killing features, Palm may have a short-lived victory in the Pre. That said, there could still be variables and unknowns that could quickly shift the Pre up notches away from iPhone. But then, We'll see.
