Sony partners with Mediatek to launch the first 8-core phone running MT6592


Sony and Mediatek are rumored to collaborate this time to launch a new device, likely to be a phablet called Sony Xperia Tianchi.

Sony Xperia Tianchi is low cost, made for China market mobile device to be released on the 12th of November Sony conference along with the launching of new phones including the new Xperia Z1, according to a report from Chinese site MTKSJ.


If this is true, that would make Sony the first major mobile device manufacturer to introduce a true 8-core mobile phone running Mediatek's MT6592 chipset. Thus improving Mediatek's leverage and reputation as a major tier-one chipset provider in the mobile phone market.
