Up next: Blazing fast 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon APQ8084 processor

A test device running a yet unreleased and rumored variant of the Snapdragon 800 was recently spotted in AnTuTu.

Antutu reveals that the myterious Snapdragon AOQ8084 is capable of reaching a blazing fast maximum frequency of 2.5Ghz (200 mhz faster than APQ8074, the current Snapdragon 800 flagship chipset) This quad-core mystery chipset could well be of the Krait 400 variety coupled with an updated Adreno 420 GPU. The GPU is expected to operate at 500MHz and have a 10% faster pixel fill rate than the current Adreno 330.

Overall, the chispet is expected to feature some cutting-edge technology like DirectX11 and WebGL2.0 support, hardware decoding for the H.265 standard as well 4K playback support. However, as exciting as this may sound, it looks like it will not be any sooner than first half of 2014 that we will start seeing devices based on the APQ8084 in the market. But then again, expectations and specs might change from here on, so as always, take everything with a grain of salt.
