NVIDIA's Android gaming device Shield to start shipping July 31st


Barely meeting promised delivery on extended launch window, NVIDIA has confirmed that Shield will definitely ship starting July 31st.



This Tegra 4 handheld gaming device was originally scheduled to be released last June but was delayed due to some mechanical issue from a third-party component. Afterwhich, the company wrote to pre-order customers about the delay and promised delivery until the end of this month.



Tagged with a retail price of $350 ($100 more than PlayStation Vita), this Android gaming device will surely fit into every diehard handheld gamers niche. Powered with Nvidia Tegra 4 Quad Core processor which includes 72 custom graphics cores and 2GB RAM, this open platform portable gaming device also boast a full-featured controller with dual analog joysticks, D-Pad,  left and right analog triggers and A/B/X/Y buttons. It is also equipped with GeForce GTX GPU, 5-inch 720p 294ppi multi-touch retinal quality display, 16GB internal storage, 802.11n 2x2 Mimo Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. Apps and games from Google Play store are also accessible with its stock version of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.
