Sony Confirmed PS4 Release Date and Specs


After a long wait, Sony has finally confirmed the the much anticipated PS4 release date and most of its specs. A lot of us have been enamored during the launch when Sony revealed some amazing features this latest gaming console will have. Disappointingly, we are still in the dark with regards to how the new console will look like.



Sony PS4 release date

At the recent Sony PS4 launching held in New York, Sony disclosed to everyone that the PS4 was officially on its way and the PS4 release date for some select countries would be this year's Christmas. We can safely say that those in UK and US will be amongst the lucky ones who will the chance to own the first batches of the PS4. So once again official release date is set for Christmas 2013.

Sony PS4 specs

Some of the confirmed PS4 specs are:

AMD x86-based 8-core CPU paired with an enhanced GPU
Blu-ray, DVD and HDMI output
8GB of DDR5 RAM
'Instant On' capability
PS4 won't be backwards compatible with old games
PS4 users will have the cability to stream PS3 and older generation games online
PlayStation App will have the feature to have iPhone, iPad, and Android based smartphones and tablets to become second screens
PlayStation 4 Eye with 1280 x 800 pixel camera (Xbox Kinect style feature)

Sony PS4 game launch titles

A number of games have been mentioned for the PS4. Deep Down (Capcom), Destiny (Bungie), Diablo III (Blizzard), Driveclub (Evolution Studios), Final Fantasy (Square Enix), Infamous: Second Son (Sucker Punch), Killzone: Shadow Fall (Guerilla Games), Knack (Sony), The Witcher 3: Watch Dogs (Ubisoft) and Wild Hunt (CD Projekt RED).

PS4 DualShock 4 controller

The PS4 controller was the only unit Sony showed during the launch. The classic looking controller comes in the form of the DualShock 4 pad. Nevertheless, the DualShock 4 offers upgraded features like vibrations, enhanced motion sensors and a Vita-like touchpad on the front.
